Located in the countryside of São Paulo state, Campinas is a wealthy and prosperous city, with 1.2 million inhabitants.

Campinas is only 110 km distant from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo and can be easily reached by good highways, in 1hour and 45 minutes. VIRACOPOS International airport, 14 km away from the hotel, can also serve as a gateway for some international flights.
SYMBAMPALM 2010 participants can choose to take a bus at the airport terminals directly to Campinas (see Travel Information for costs and timetable).

The city is known for its high technology and scientific potential, universities and research centers such as the IAC (Agronomic Institute of Campinas), ITAL (Food Technology Institute), and UNICAMP University of Campinas. Coffee production has been part of the city’s economic development since the XVIII century and still today, it has important coffee farms and research centers.

Campinas offers a good infrastructure of hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and a variety of programs for SYMBAMPALM participants and accompanying persons.
